Returning this year with 600+ wines, exciting cooking demos from DC's top culinary stars and a lively cocktail kick-off competition, the 13th Annual Washington DC International Wine & Food Festival (IWFF) will celebrate the world of wine, food and culture at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in downtown Washington, DC. IWFF Attendees will be able to taste the best of the world's food and drink right here in the acclaimed foodie destination of Washington, DC - with 600+ rare and loved wines from 100 wineries, foods from artisanal producers around the world and DC's best restaurants, tastings of unique spirits and more.

150th Commemoration of the Civil War: The Death of Ellsworth
This exhibition recounts the death of Colonel Elmer E. Ellsworth in Alexandria, VA. Ellsworth, a friend of President Abraham Lincoln, was the first Union officer to be killed in the four-year-long struggle. Throughout the Civil War his name, face and heroism was recalled in stationery, sheet music and memorial lithographs. Francis E. Brownell, the soldier who mortally avenged Ellsworth’s assailant, bequeathed several artifacts to the Smithsonian Institution, including the weapons used in the incident and Brownell’s Congressional Medal of Honor. The exhibition will bring together a select grouping of once-prized mementoes, including portraits of Ellsworth and Lincoln, as well as Alonzo Chappel’s historic painting, 'The Death of Ellsworth.'

2012 DC Independent Film Festival
DCIFF is an all-volunteer non-profit launched in 1999 to nurture independent film. As the oldest independent film festival in Washington, the DC Independent Film Festival has a storied history of presenting extraordinary films. They have showcased cutting edge features, shorts and documentaries on every subject from every country with every budget and subject imaginable. By exhibiting world premiere screenings, hosting timely seminars and workshops, and even sponsoring discussions with the United States Congress, DCIFF gives independent filmmakers opportunities for their voices to be heard in a way that no other festival can provide.

2012 Walk for Wishes – Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic
The first annual Walk for Wishes will be a community-wide celebration for Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic, an organization that helps grant the wishes of children with life-threatening diseases in Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. To help kickoff the inaugural walk, Make-A-Wish has invited each of the 7000 families the chapter has served to date to participate in the event. Supporters of the Make-A-Wish Foundation can participate in the Walk for Wishes in a number of ways, including joining UnitedHealthcare as an official event sponsor, walking at the Comcast Center during the event, pledging financial support to other walkers, volunteering as event staff and donating in-kind goods and services. All funds raised by the Walk for Wishes will benefit future wish children throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

The acclaimed 21st Century Consort continues their 2011-12 season with performances that celebrate exhibitions on view in the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The concept of repetition that is so integral to printmaking is also evident in contemporary classical music. In this concert, the music of Conlon Nancarrow, Robert Beaser, David Froom, Mark Kuss, and Dan Visconti is illustrated with images from the 'Multiplicity' exhibition.

Casino Night 2012 is expected to raise $120,000 to fight kidney disease in the Washington, DC area. A signature event of the National Kidney Foundation, Casino Night attracts a diverse group of guests from the business, medical and philanthropic communities. It is a black-tie optional event with an Old Hollywood theme featuring casino-style gaming including blackjack, roulette, craps, money wheel and Nintendo Wii Guitar Hero Tournament.
